Analogical Reasoning on Spatial Temporal Patterns in the Brazilian Amazon

At INPE large expertise, data from remote sensing and field work experience for the Brazilian Amazon are available. How can these resources be used to increase the knowledge about the evolution of spatial temporal patterns? The analysis of evolution in different areas shows several dominant spatial temporal patterns of change. The PhD student will investigate what meaningful ways are to describe and to compare these patterns. A methodology for the description of spatial temporal patterns will be derived. By using analogical reasoning a computational model to find similarities between different regions will be developed. Thus the knowledge about evolution of spatial temporal patterns in the Brazilian Amazon will be deepened.

This topic is predestined for a mobility measure. The methodology to describe spatial temporal patterns could be done in Brazil, while the work on the analogical comparison could be done in Germany.
