Develop a domain-specific theory of land use changes in the Brazilian Amazon

The topic of this Master thesis is to develop a domain-specific theory of land use changes in the Brazilian Amazon. With main focus on deforestation the student will apply different methods as statistical analysis of spatial temporal change patterns or interviews with domain experts. The outcome of this work is a domain-specific theory of land use changes in the Brazilian Amazon. This will be accomplished by defining description rules (i.e. rules to classify regions into different types) and evolution rules (i.e. rules to describe changes of the different types).

At least a major part of this work has to be done in Brazil, which makes this master thesis a possible mobility measure for students from Germany, who are interested in coming to Brazil to study at INPE.
