TerraME is a development environment for spatial dynamical modelling based on cellular automata (nested-CA), that links cell spaces to a spatial database for data storage and retrieval. A spatial dynamic model is a model whose locations are independent variables. The outcomes of these models are maps that depict the spatial distribution of a pattern or of a continuous variable. Among the typical applications of TerraME are land change and hydrological models.

The best way to learn TerraME is to read "A Gentle Introduction to TerraME", which is a simple introduction to the software and contains examples of usage. You may also want to download the “Cabeça de Boi” database and the "amazonia" database, which are used by the tutorial examples.
