(Based on GIMP tutorial: Simple Animations)

  1. Import JPEG images by dragging files
  2. Insert Texts (Image Courtesy of the U.S. Geological Survey) and Copyright notice - Please, try to use CC Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported
  3. To specify different delay for some frames, Edit Frame Attributes by right-clicking on the frame name:
    1. Append a space and the delay in milliseconds between parenthesis. This is for 2 seconds: framename (2000ms)
    2. Click on Export button
  4. Export As a GIF image:
    1. Select GIF option As animation and Loop forever
    2. Define Delay between frames, around 1000 ms will do it, but change as wanted
    3. Define Frame disposal to replace
    4. Select Use delay entered above for all frames if you do not want to specify different delay for some frames.
    5. Select Use disposal entered above for all frames
    6. Click on Export button
