SpaceStat 1.91 Release Notes 7/01

Note: SpaceStat 1.91 is a temporary patch to the original version 1.90
that avoids the problems with the new Windows 2000 memory
architecture. Its functionality is identical to that of 1.91 with one
exception: k-nearest neighbor weights are implemented for sparse
         distance models as well.

Interface: The interface is not "Windows" but the same DOS interface
as for V1.90. There are four differences between 1.91 and 1.90

              - The program is exited by CTRL-Q, not by ALT-Q
              - The options are called by CTRL-O, not by F1
              - The F2 "System" key is no longer available
              - A workspace "path" must be specified at the start. It should be
set to the directory that contains your data set(s), or SpaceStat
will not be able to find those. The path can be changed by means
               of the Options menu (CTRL-O).

Installation:
             - create a directory, say c:\space
(NOTE: keep the length of the path for this directory *short*; there
may be problems when the path name is longer than 150 characters,
sometimes even less, depending on the system path)
             - copy all the files extracted from winspace.zip to that directory
(*all* the files should be in the directory and there should be a
                  subdirectory called gxe)
             - in the windows desktop, create a shortcut and set the *command* item
               of the shortcut to
               c:\space\gsrun.exe c:\space\sp191.gcg
[replace c:\space by the appropriate pathname if you selected something
                different]
             - now when you double click on the shortcut, the SpaceStat welcome screen
               should appear.

Fine tuning:
              - if the program seems to start but disappears suddenly, check the path length
              - if you have memory problems, edit the grun.cfg configuration file. use any
text editor to find the line containing the "workspace = " setting and change
it from the default to the actual ram on your system.
